Sony PlayStation 5 Pro Console

Yes, the PS5 Pro console can play all PS5 games.

Yes, PS5 Pro uses the DualSense Controller wireless and is compatible with other Controller such as the DualSense Edge Controller wireless.

Yes, PS5 Pro is fully compatible with audio devices in the same way that your PS5 console is.

Yes, over 8,500 PS4 games can be played on the PS5 Pro console.

This is a label given to games that have been patched by their developers to take specific advantage of the PS5 Pro's more powerful hardware. This is not an automatic boost for every game.

Enhancements vary by title but typically include:

• PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution): An AI-powered upscaling technique to create a high-resolution 4K image from a lower-resolution one, freeing up power for other features.

• Higher Frame Rates: More stable 60 FPS or even targeting 80 FPS or more on 120Hz displays.

• Better Graphics: Improved or added ray tracing (for more realistic lighting, shadows, and reflections), and higher-resolution textures.

• New Graphics Modes: Many games will offer a "Performance Pro" or "Fidelity Pro" mode, often combining high frame rates (like 60 FPS) with high-end graphical features (like ray tracing) that were previously impossible to run at the same time.

PSSR is Sony's custom AI-driven upscaling technology, similar to NVIDIA's DLSS or AMD's FSR. In simple terms, it allows the console to render a game at a lower resolution (like 1080p or 1440p) and then intelligently use AI to scale it up to look as sharp and detailed as a native 4K image. The main benefit is that this process is far less demanding than rendering in native 4K, freeing up the console's powerful GPU to deliver both high frame rates (like 60 FPS) and advanced ray tracing effects simultaneously.

It depends.

• "PS5 Pro Enhanced" Games: Titles with a specific patch will see the most significant improvements (as described above).

• "Game Boost" for Unpatched Games: Games that have not received a Pro patch can still benefit from the console's "Game Boost" feature. This often risultati in more stable frame rates (a game that aimed for 60 FPS but sometimes dropped to 50 will now lock at 60) and potentially higher dynamic resolutions.

• PS4 Games: Many PS4 games, especially those that had PS4 Pro enhancements, will run in their best-possible state, often with locked frame rates.

No. Sony requires that all new PS5 games are fully playable on the standard PS5, PS5 Slim, and PS5 Pro. The Pro simply offers a better-performing version of the same game. You will not miss out on any new titles by sticking with a standard PS5.

This depends entirely on your setup and priorities.

• Upgrade if: You are a "graphics enthusiast" with a high-end 4K, 120Hz, VRR-capable TV and you want the absolute best visual and performance experience possible. If you are sensitive to frame rate drops or want to play with ray tracing at 60 FPS, the Pro is built for you.

• Don't upgrade if: You are a casual player, you play on a 1080p TV, or you are perfectly happy with the performance of your current PS5. The standard PS5 is still a very powerful and relevant console that will play all the same games for years to come.

No, not by default. The PS5 Pro base model is a digital-only console, similar to the PS5 Slim Digital Edition. However, it is compatible with the detachable disc drive (sold separately) that Sony released for the PS5 Slim. You can buy the drive and attach it yourself.

Besides the much more powerful GPU and the new PSSR technology, the other key upgrades are:

• Storage: It comes with a 2TB SSD built-in, an upgrade from the 1TB (PS5 Slim) or 825GB (original PS5) in other models.

• Wi-Fi: It includes Wi-Fi 7, the Più recenti standard, which offers faster speeds and more stable connections (if you have a Wi-Fi 7 router).
