Magic: The Gathering The Hobbit Draft Night Box

The Magic: The Gathering | The Hobbit (HOB) expansion officially hits the tabletop on August 14, 2026.

This self-contained kit is designed specifically for small-group drafting. Each box contains :

• 12 The Hobbit Play Boosters: Each pack contains 14 Magic cards optimized for balanced play.

• 1 The Hobbit Collector Booster: A premium pack containing high-value foils and exclusive art treatments.

• 90 Non-foil Basic Lands: Essential for building decks immediately after your draft.

• 10 Non-foil Double-Sided Tokens: Thematic tokens to represent game states.

• 1 Draft Insert: A guide to help your group navigate the drafting process.

The Draft Night Box is engineered for a 4-player "Pick-Two" draft experience. Giocatori open their packs and select two cards at a time before passing the remaining cards to the next person.

This method allows a smaller group of four to see more of the card pool, ensuring deck archetypes are properly supported and making for a more dynamic table experience.

While drafting, you’ll have the chance to recruit iconic figures from J.R.R. Tolkien’s 1937 novel. Key legendary glimmers include:

• Bilbo, Thief in the Night (Mythic Rare)

• Thorin, Mountain-king (Mythic Rare)

• Smaug the Magnificent (Mythic Rare)

• Gandalf and the Three Trolls (Tom, Bert, and William)

• The Arkenstone // Seek the Heart (Mythic Rare Artifact/Avventura)

Yes, but these ultra-rare treatments are found exclusively in the single Collector Booster included in the box.

The set utilizes mechanics that mirror the episodic journey of the Company of Dwarves :

• Avventura: Mirroring Bilbo's trek, cards like My Precious // Allure of Power allow you to cast a sorcery "quest" before exiling the card to cast the permanent side later .

• Prepare: A new mechanic featuring creatures with a "prepare spell" inset. Once a creature becomes "prepared," you create a copy of a spell in exile to cast as long as the creature remains on the battlefield .

• Treasure-Focused: Many cards, particularly those involving Smaug, focus on generating and spending Treasure tokens.

A standard Play Booster Box contains 30 packs and is intended for a full 8-player draft. The Draft Night Box is a smaller solution for a 4-player group.

Product lineup includes:

• Play Booster Box: Contains 30 Play Boosters optimized for drafting. Each display includes a Traditional Foil Box Topper reprint of an iconic card (like The One Ring) with brand-new artwork.
